About First National
Established in 1908, First National Bank is headquartered in Altavista, Virginia and operates seventeen branches in the Greater Lynchburg region, the City of Danville, Pittsylvania County, and a loan production office in the City of Charlottesville. The Bank’s current total assets are $910,708,000, and it employs 190 people.
In October of 2020, First National Bank completed its merger with the former Virginia Bank & Trust, of Danville. The combined entity has nearly 200 years of community banking experience, focused specifically on personal relationships with clients and meaningful community involvement.
True to the spirit of community involvement, the First National Bank Community Impact Foundation is an employee led endowment and grant arm of the Bank. The steering committee is comprised of employees from across the Bank’s service footprint, and votes twice annually on 501c3 (nonprofit) organizations whose work directly benefit the communities served by First National Bank. To date, the organization has distributed nearly $30,000 since 2019.
